RICHARD J. SHERIDAN

March 29, 1934 ~ May 24, 2015 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Richard J. Sheridan, 81, set sail for the great beyond on May 24, 2015. He was the husband of the late Barbara (Heller) and son of Edwin and Mary Bernetta (Brown). He was brother to the late Edwin and Ernest Sheridan.

Dick was raised in Providence then settled in Edgewood with his wife to raise their family.

He had a love for the water from a young age and joined the SeaBee’s out of high school.  He served his time in the Philippines.

He was a talented carpenter by trade and a proud member of the Carpenter’s Union Local 94.

Dick was known for his great sense of humor and never ending smile.

A true boating enthusiast, Dick took every opportunity to climb aboard a boat.  From becoming part of the crew on a sailboat, to picking up Santa in the North Pole, going on Tuesday afternoon boat trips with his brother Ernie, or just sitting at the PAC and watching the boats come in and out of the cove.

He was a member of the Elks, VFW, and was a lifetime member of the Pawtuxet Athletic Club.

Dick is survived by his children, Rosemary Nuzzo (late husband John), Richard J. Sheridan, Jr., Kathleen Magiera (husband John), Matthew Sheridan and 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

A Chapel service will be held at Gates of Heaven Cemetery, E. Providence, Thursday at 1:00pm.

In honoring their father’s wishes, the Sheridan children invite family and friends to join them in celebrating Dick’s life on Thursday evening 6-8pm at the Pawtuxet Athletic Club, 8 Aborn Street, Cranston, RI.  A toast will be made at 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Save The Bay Center, 100 Save the Bay Dr, Providence, RI 02905.
