ROSA (VELLECO) MARTIRA-ROPERTA

MARTIRA-ROPERTA, Rosa (Velleco), 89, of 70 Warwick Ave., passed May 30, 2016 at Hope Hospice & Palliative Care - Rhode Island. She was the wife of the late John Roperta and the late Salvatore Martira.

   Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Agostino and Elvira (Massaro) Velleco.  Rosa was a self-employed Hairdresser and worked at Shaw’s Market for 18 yrs.

   She was the mother of John Roperta of FL, step-mother of Salvatore & Richard Martira and the late Anthony Martira. Sister of the late Agostino “Gus” Velleco and Antonetta Roperti. Grandmother of 6 and great-grandmother of 8.

   Funeral Friday at 9:00am from the Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home, 1895 Broad St., at Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Paul Church, One St. Paul Pl., Cranston at 10:00am.  Graveside Committal Prayers at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.

   Calling hours Thursday 4-7pm.

   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 N. Main St. Providence, RI 02904.
