JOHN E. HARRIS

John E. Harris, Jr., 59, of Providence, RI passed away July 23, 2016 at home. He was born September 13, 1956 in Providence, RI and grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. His sister, Jocelyn Harris and his parents Dr. John E. Harris, Sr. and Mrs. Emily L. Harris preceded John in death.

John is survived by his loving wife of over 34 years, Teresa Suarez-Harris and his adoring daughter Emily Pinto.  John grew up in Hyde Park, MA and attended Yale University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Later in life, John earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island. John was devoted to music and loved the piano.  He was an avid player, but also an expert in the maintenance and upkeep of the most modern types of pianos to the exquisite antiques.  John owned and ran Ye Olde Piano Shoppe in the heart of East Providence for over 10 years.  In his pastime, he also enjoyed playing Chess immensely, attending various tournaments around the country and participating when he could.

John’s quiet temperament and simple needs for life made him a very discreet and unassuming man.  With his quiet demeanor, he lived his life on his own terms.  He leaves a legacy of extended family and friends who will always love him and honor his memory by keeping family, faith, and education in the forefront of their minds.
