What a total shock. We are so very sorry to lose our next door neighbor of so many years on Fort Avenue. We both loved our gardens so much and I think she also loved our bees. We will miss you Linda. Richard and Carolyn

I haven't seen Linda since we were girls, yet I am heartbroken here in North Carolina where my Mother called me today to let me know of Linda's passing. She and I were great friends in out youth enjoying wonderful times in our neighborhood. Looking at her picture I see she hasn't changed a bit, still as lovely as when she was a teenager. Please accept my deepest sympathies, Mr Matuzak

We are sorry for the loss of Mrs Linda. My brothers and I were apart of the Lad & Lassie program that taught us so much as little kids and gave us so many great childhood memories.

Miss Linda - you and your staff helped shape my 2 kids and when my granddaughter attended Lad 'n Lassie, you knew who we were right off. You always had a smile and adopted all the kids as your own. You were one special woman and I am glad to have known you. You will be missed greatly. May you rest in peace.

To Linda's family - our most sincere condolences on your loss.

Miss Linda touched so many lives. Mine was one when she hired me on the spot to begin my journey in early childhood education at the Lad and Lassie School. Linda was instrumental in my returning to school for certification and she helped instill in me the confidence that I needed to succeed. She left footprints in my heart and the hearts of so many. Rest in eternal peace Miss Linda. My deepest sympathy to all. <3

I had the pleasure of first meeting Ms. Linda in the summer of 2005, when I started working at Lad n' Lassie. I knew from the moment I walked down the hill and inside the big red building, that this job was for me. Luckily, Linda thought the same. I worked for Linda until the doors closed in the summer of 2009. Linda was absolutely amazing. She was by far the best boss anyone could ever have. I remember in the summer of 2006, she and all the kids had a surprise bridal shower for me, complete with gifts, food and a whole lot of laughs. She was caring, loving and most importantly selfless. If only this earth were blessed with more people like Linda, we would be a better world. Ms. Linda, until we meet again, goodnight and God Bless!

Linda,my special Angel,

I don't know how or why our lives came together and grew into the unique trusting relationship that was only for us.
Saturday, as we sat in our beautiful garden, you said "I am looking for a special gift for you,but I haven't found it yet, so be patient.". Sunday evening the gift arrived as you became my Angel of love. You really shouldn't have!

My heart is broken, and I feel like an empty shell waiting for your whisper of your voice to wash over me. We were the best of friends,a sister act like no other, 2 crazy Pollocks.

Linda, my angel, I look forward to our reunion, but for now I'll stay with our Yellow Room friends. I will tell them stories of Linda.

Rest in peace and enjoy your new home. You are "THE BEST"!

I love you and miss you.

Miss Linda,
You were such a special lady and teacher. I remember being a nervous first time parent, and dropping my daughter off to preschool for the first time. I immidiately got a warm, welcoming vibe from you, and somehow, I felt safe leaving my only baby in the care of strangers. Gabby being a shy child, was always comforted by you, my Dad and I were talking about how we would pick Gabby up and she would be cuddling on your lap being comforted by you until she felt confident enough to play on that playground with the kids. I want to thank you for that and your patience with all the children, and always being so kind to us. I hope her family knows how great she was at what she did. You will be missed.
Love Jess and Gabby

Linda was so understanding when my son started preschool at Lad n'Lassie 33 years ago. I can still see her driving the bus to drop him off when he first went for just half days. The first few weeks were not easy for him or me as I was about to deliver my second child, but her loving care made the transition much easier. Her ability to interact with the children and their parents was a gift that blessed each of us. She brought her joy to early education and everyone whose lives she touched. She will be missed.

This am I was reading my nephews obit on the same page, and I looked across and saw Linda's. I haven't seen her in over forty years but I recognized her right away. She was my friend on Boardman Ave in Cumberland as youngsters. I wondered about her over the years, but never crossed paths again. I'm not surprised at what I am reading about her, because that's how I pictured her to grow up to be. God has a job for Linda to do in heaven. Mr Matuszek, my deepest sympathy.

My youngest went to Lad and Lassie and loved Ms Linda. I was once her tenant and housekeeper for many years. Linda was the most thoughtful, kind and loving person I had ever met. Her little notes she left me were cheerfull and funny at times. I remember a St Patrick's day note which read " Happy St Patrick's Day to a Spanish girl with a Jewish name, from a Polish girl with an Italian name". She left too soon and will be truly missed. God be with you my friend

There are many people who pass through, along our Journey. Linda was a person, of great character. She was so knowledgeable about so many areas of life. She never self serving, always put people in front. Always thinking of people, sending cards their way with kind and helping words. I would to tell her she was classy, yet sassy! She would laugh! I couldn't wait to see her daily, looking forward to seeing her jewelry which matched every out fit, along with her handbag of the day. Linda's attention to details all around her, is what made her so special. I am so grateful for our small talks daily, as she passed through my classroom. I thank her for great memories and for staying in my heart. Linda will be very missed by me.

What can I say about my friend Miss Linda? This all seems so surreal and not right. We were supposed to get a chance to say goodbye and most importantly we were supposed to see you again. You were supposed to come back to work and be with the children. This was not supposed to happen. I am heartbroken. Miss Linda was a ray of sunshine; a wonderful person. No one had a bad word to ever say about Linda. I'll miss her news clippings, her joke posted on the refrigerator (or if the joke was a little off color....put facedown on my desk so that I could have the laugh). I'll miss her recap of the newspaper, articles that she knew that I would never read because I depended on her to fill me in. I'll miss her songs. There were nothing like her songs. She sang EVERYTHING with the children and those children went home singing her tune. I will miss her more then words can say. There is so much that I wish I had said. She was my mentor, my go-to for advice person and most importantly, my friend. I love you Miss Linda. Rest in Peace my friend. Until we meet again.

Linda,
As an anxious parent, you put me at ease by your reassuring manner. You mastered life's balance of being knowledgeable without being overbearing. As a friend of my sister, you included me in every occasion. You were an addition to my family--another sister to share with Pattie. As a friend, you made me believe women could be friends without conflict or competition. Your unconditional support is something that will be sorely missed. You are a rare human being whose passing is a loss to this world.

Auntie Lynne,
We have shared so many memories through the years, but most of all you shared a part of YOU with me. You always made time for me, made me laugh until my belly hurt, and always made me smile when I was having a tough day. While the kids were at Lad & Lassie, your words of wisdom helped me in ways you'll never know. I agree, CHOCOLATE is the best medicine. All my love, Carol-Ann

Linda had the prettiest smile of all the workers at the Darlington Early Childhood Center. Whenever I had busy work at the church, Linda would see me and greet me in a wonderfully friendly manner. She will be deeply missed by my family and me.

Love always,

Miss Linda was the most loving, giving, caring, enduring, gentle, and just beautiful person that I have ever met. I can not count the days that I opened my mailbox to find a kind word or thoughtful message sent by her, or found a gift at my door after a hectic day. I would usually call her as soon as I could and let her know that she made my day. I am so sad to think that I will not see her or be able to talk with her. My heart is sorely broken, yet I am thankful for having known this most beautiful lady. Rest in peace dear Linda may your wings guide you as you find your heavenly resting place. You were always an angel to me. xo

Dearest Linda,

I miss you my friend,my mentor, my advocate,my other sister, my reminder to look at the bright side of life,my partner in crime, my teacher of life lessons, one of the only friends my mother ever really liked, and my biggest fan. In your book, I could do" no wrong". With you , I was always right. Every idea I had was the best idea. You traveled fearlessly to anyplace you wanted to visit. You sent letters and cards just because they were funny for no apparent reason. If they were not funny, you drew pictures and made notations and MADE them funny. You are the only person that looked perfect in purple. You are my reason to smile . Thank you Lord for the gift of Linda. I think you were to good to stay in this world. Our friendship is eternal. . It has gone from rip-roarious to serene. Flowers only bloom where the sun is. Thank you for being a friend Golden Girl. Much Love, Miss Pattie
