Obituary

Stephen P. Sheridan, of Providence, passed peacefully at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center on February 2, 2022.

Born in Providence, a son of the late John (NKHS teacher) and Helen (Retzer) Sheridan he graduated from North Kingstown High School and Roger William College. While Steve spent many warm winters in Florida, the call of the Red Sox, love of family, and love of New England called him back to us.

His interests included collecting antiques. Not only setting up shop but also with a curator's detail and touch, erecting displays of his precious finds in his eastside home. His eye for value was not confined to the material object but was extended to that of the importance of human worth.

Steve spent 30 years working in the Rhode Island Dept. of Human Services doing his best to upgrade the condition of his fellow man. He received a Certificate for his years of service from the Senate upon his retirement for a job well done. It would be a mistake not to say goodbye without mentioning his affection for animals, particularly cats, several of which he adopted.

Steve leaves behind his siblings, Joan Doucette and her husband Paul of Halifax, MA., Mike Sheridan and his wife Barbara of East Greenwich, and Dick Sheridan of North Kingstown.  He was the loving uncle to Danielle Sheridan Doucette and her husband Kevin Thorley and Brian Doucette; and great uncle to Jack and Anna Thorley-Doucette all of Vermont. He is also survived by many dear cousins. He was the brother of the late Jack Sheridan.
