Fontaine, Ronald Raymond, 77, of Haley Road, Warwick, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. He was the loving husband of Joanne (Mirza) Mancone and the late Janice (Conway) Fontaine. Born and raised in Central Falls, he was the son of the late Armand W. Fontaine and Loretta (Daigle) Fontaine.
A graduate of Central Falls High School and the Rhode Island School of Photography, Ron spent two years serving in the army during the Vietnam War. Later, he worked for the federal government for over forty years, most passionately in his capacity as photographer for the Newport Navalog. After retirement, Ron could always be found, camera in hand, photographing the beautiful Rhode Island coastline and traveling the backroads of New England in search of the perfect snapshot.
Ron is survived by his daughters, Cara Mathers (Steven) of West Kingston, RI, and Allison Guerreiro (Matthew) of Dighton, MA, as well as his three beloved grandchildren: Noah, Oliver, and Lillian. He also leaves behind five siblings: Armand W. Fontaine, Jr., Joan T. Allard, Marc Fontaine, Celeste L. Mellen, and Elizabeth R. Symynkywicz.
The funeral will be held Saturday, June 29th at 9:00 AM from the Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home, 1895 Broad Street at Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 350 Fair St., Warwick. Burial will take place at Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick.
Calling hours will be held Friday, June 28th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron’s name may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
