Richard Giroux, Sr. Obituary

Richard “The King” Giroux, 68, of Danielson, CT, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at his home in Danielson.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island he was the son of the late Alfred J. and Beatrice M. (Therriault) Giroux.

He had worked for Frito Lay as a truck driver delivering all of the Northeast for over 30 years. Previously he had served in the United States Air Force as an explosives ordinance
technician (who allowed him to do this is beyond us, but hey it was the 70’s). Richie also was a part-time semi-professional Hi-lo jack player in his free time.

He leaves behind his son Richard “Beau” Giroux Jr (Meg), as well as his grandson Max “Maxadoodle” Giroux and his mother. Richard is also survived by his brother Raymond
Giroux of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He leaves behind a horde of close friends, closest of all Richard “Schultze” Shultz his partner in crime for over 55 years.
Richard was a regular parishioner at St. James Church, Danielson CT. In his later years, he enjoyed fixing anything and everything for anyone and everyone. He loved relaxing near
(not in) the pool surrounded by friends and family with a hot clam cake and a cold beer in his hand. A secret philanthropist, he was involved in extensive charity work especially
causes pertaining to children. He will be greatly missed, may he Rest in Peace.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).

His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:00 am from the Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home, 1895 Broad St., at Park Ave., Cranston, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Paul Church, 1 St. Paul Pl., Cranston at 10:00 am. Interment will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
