Marilu Rojas Castillo, 78, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Born and raised in Cali, Colombia, Marilu immigrated to the United States in the 1970s and lived in Providence for over 50 years. She dedicated her life to raising her family with love and energy. A devoted member of St. Michael’s in Providence, she was a prominent church leader and very involved with her community. Many remember her for her beauty, elegance, special light, and enduring faith, which continue to have personal impact today.
Marilu cherished dancing, music, nature, and the art of making everyone feel like family. Her kitchen was renowned for its delicious cooking, and her home was a hub for neighborhood gatherings.
She is survived by Edgar Castillo Sr; her children, Edgar, and John; her grandchildren, Jonathan, and Olivia; her siblings, Oscar, Amanda, and Abelardo; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will remember her with happiness and love. She is predeceased by her eldest son James.
