Margaret “Peggy” R. Kent (Edwards), 88, of Cranston and Florida, passed away on
January 6, 2026, at Fatima Hospital in Providence, with her family at her side. She was the beloved wife of Robert Kent. Born in Fredonia, New York, she was the daughter of the late William and Rose (Manzella) Edwards.
Margaret graduated from Fredonia High School in 1955. She later moved to Washington, D.C.,
where she worked as a secretary for the United States Naval Department. While there, she met
her future husband, Robert, at Andrews Air Force Base. Together, they shared 69 happy years of marriage. Besides her husband, she leaves her daughter, Kathy Kent, and her partner, Paul Long; her grandchildren, Ashley Boudreau, Abbie MacBeth, and Mary MacBeth; and five great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Robert Kent and the sister of the late William and John Edwards and Kathleen Powers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on January 15th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church,
1 Warwick Avenue, Cranston, RI, to which relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
Burial will follow at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, Rhode Island.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margaret’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
