Joseph “Felix” Valliere, 91, of Pell Avenue, Warwick, passed away at the Greenwood Nursing Home on September 5, 2020. He was the husband of the late Florence (Clayton) Valliere.
Born in West Warwick, he was the youngest son of the late Honore and Orpha (LaPlume) Valliere.
Joseph was a pipefitter at Electric Boat for most of his life, after having served in the Army after World War II. He was a two-time Post Commander for the VFW Post 449, West Warwick. Later in his life, he was the van driver for the Hilton Garden Inn in Warwick, where he was lovingly known as “Papa Joe.” He loved to dance and to golf. He never missed a Red Sox game if he could help it, and loved to keep score with pen and paper.
He is survived by two sons and two daughters, Stephen Clayton and his wife Karen of Warwick; Robert Clayton and his wife Christine of Coventry; Deborah Brooks of North Providence; and Pamela Hackworth of Warwick, as well as nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Helen (Valliere) Jones, Anita (Valliere) Frankenfeld, Normand Valliere, and Louis Valliere. He was also the father of the late Charles Clayton and David Valliere.
