James Donald Dacey, 88, of Warwick, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2023. Born in New York City, he was the son of the late James and Mary (Walsh) Dacey. He is survived by his loving wife, Dolores (Scarduzio) Dacey, and a blended family of four children, three stepchildren, eighteen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Jim attended Cranston East High School and later left for the armed forces, where he played basketball and baseball at Fort Eustis, Virginia. He attended Johnston & Wales University and retired from Rhode Island Public Transit Authority.
Jim was active in Rhode Island softball and led his team to eight tournament championships. He continued his passion by participating in the Warwick Senior League, becoming state champs. After retirement, he found his love for golf and could be seen playing year-round, even in the winter months.
We will miss his many stories, sense of humor, and famous handshake.
