Jacqueline B. (Plant) Fitzgerald, 92, of Cranston, passed peacefully at home on Friday, March 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Ruddock) Plant and the beloved wife of the late Donald J. Fitzgerald. Jacqueline and her husband raised their family in the Edgewood section of Cranston, where they lived for 50 years before she later moved in with her son, Patrick.
Mrs. Fitzgerald proudly served the community as a Crossing Guard for the City of Cranston for more than 30 years, retiring in 2003. She was a devoted communicant of St. Paul Church in Edgewood for over 60 years and was an active member of the Legion of Mary. Jacqueline was also involved with the Gaspee Days Parade Committee and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She leaves behind her loving children: Patrick Fitzgerald and his wife, Nita, and their children Alayna and John; Michael Fitzgerald and his wife, Michele, and their son Julian; and her daughter, Kali Ryan, and her daughter Nina Pereira. She was the sister of the late Richard Plant. She was the grandmother of the late Ryan P. Fitzgerald and the late Mary Hunter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Church in Edgewood. Burial will be private at St. Ann Cemetery.
