Josephine Hannon, 84, passed away Tuesday Feb. 9th at home surrounded by her loving family. She passed after a very short illness. She was the wife of the late Hugh Hannon. They were married for 57 years before Hugh’s passing in Nov. 2012.
She was born in County Cavan Ireland to Thomas & Annie McHugh. She married Hugh in Dec. 1955 in Crawley West Sussex England, before they immigrated to the United States in 1957. She was a proud & faithful communicant of St. Peters Church in Warwick RI since moving to Warwick in 1963. She was a very faithful church patron during her entire life.
She was the mother of Peter J., John J. & his spouse Moria, Jospephine M., Thomas F.P., Kevin H., Brian P. Hannon and Ann Marie Hannon Wells and grandmother of Christopher Wells, Maeve, Delia and Brigid Hannon, and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of Mary Keaveney, Kathleen McSharry, Nora O’Brien, of England and the late Anne Conlon. Margaret Connely, Thomas, Theresa and Francis McHugh.
She raised 7 kids of her own, along with raising all of the neighborhood kids as well. She was always ready with food or drink, along with keeping all of the kids in line.
She was a member of Ireland 32. She was friend of Alanon.
Josephine led a very wonderful life, and was able to travel to many places around the world including the Holy Land (Israel) a Mass with Pope John Paul II in Rome, Fatima in Portugal, Lourdes in France, London, Toronto & Montreal to St Joseph Oratory, St Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC, Chicago and the White House in Washington DC.
Funeral Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home, 1895 Broad St. at Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter Church, 350 Fair St., Warwick, at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be held at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston, RI
Calling Hours Monday 4:00-8:00 P.M.
In Lieu of Flowers, Donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul at St. Peter Church.
