Grant A. Peoples 70, passed away peacefully after a long illness on April 7, 2023. He was the loving husband of Diane (Lomba) Peoples. They would have been married 43 years in July. Born in Gastonia, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Clarence Edward and Evelyn (Goode) Peoples, and Lee Grant Crockett.
Grant proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. After returning to his home in Rhode Island 1972 he also served in the Rhode Island National Guards and worked several custodian jobs, Retired in 2012 from Ocean State CPL.
Grant enjoyed going to casinos. He was a New England sports lover always rooting for Patriots, Celtics and Boston Red Sox.
Besides his wife he was the loving father of Jennifer Simpson and her husband Steven, Crystal Durant and her late husband Robert Turner, Latoya Peoples and her companion Joel Nunez, and Grant Peoples Jr. and his wife Cheryl Marciszyn. He was the adoring grandfather of Shawn, Robert, Danaisa, and Grant Durant, Steven Jr., Shianne, Xavier, and Jordan Simpson, Grant III, and Carter Peoples, Joell Ramos, and Eddie Dordain. He was the great grandfather of 3.
Also survived by sisters Linda Hill (Alfred), Brenda Jeffries (Joel), Lydia Peoples and Eleanor Peoples. Brothers Stephen Peoples (O'Casey), Troy Peoples, and Edward Peoples Jr. Several nieces and nephews’ family and friends. Grant was preceded in death by sisters Stephanie Kuku, Tracey Peoples, Margie Harden (Frederick). Brothers Michael Peoples and Lee Grant Crockett Jr.
His funeral service will be held on Monday April 17, 2023, at 11 a.m. in the Jones Walton Sheridan Funeral Home,1895 Broad Street, Cranston. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will be in North Burial Ground Cemetery, Providence
