Eileen Murphy’s (McKenna) soul soared to heaven on August 27the at the age of 93 after a short illness. Her family surrounded her and guided her ascent. Eileen was the wife of the late James Murphy. Born in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth and William Mckenna. Eileen called Fair Street in Warwick her home for more than 65 years and was a daily communicant at St. Peter Church.
She was the proud mother of 5 children- two of whom sadly predeceased her- Michael (Christine) and Maribeth Cook. James Murphy, Kate Hyatt (Ronald) and Christopher Murphy rounded out her brood. Her progeny included 6 grandchildren, Conor and Evan Murphy, Isidro, Sean, Michelle and Ronald Hyatt and 6 great grandchildren. Eileen was predeceased by her two brothers, Willam and Edward Mckenna and her sister, Elizabeth Jutras.
When her children were grown, Eileen worked at the former Ri Hospital Trust (later Bank of Boston) as a supervisor in the check processing department. Eileen was elated with her job and stayed straight through to retirement. She was very proud that she had her own pension.
A final viewing will be held on Friday, August 30th from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home, 1895 Broad St. at Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00at St. Peter’s Church, 350 Fair Street Warwick.
