Donna M. Weber (Splittgerber) of Cranston, Rhode Island, passed away on January 22, 2025, following a short illness. She received loving care at home from hospice services and her devoted family members.
Donna was born on January 10th, 1947, in Long Beach, CA. She grew up in California and Massachusetts. Donna graduated from Wellesley High School in 1964. She then went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Simmons College in 1968, and a Master’s Degree in Education from Boston University in 1970. Donna earned her certification as a Speech Pathologist in 1972, embarking on a long and rewarding career. Donna brought
her considerable skills as a speech therapist to several schools, including the Boston School for the Deaf and the Metropolitan Regional Career and Technical Center in Providence. She worked with the geriatric community in nursing home settings, as well as many individuals in her private practice.
In 1971, Donna married Richard P. Weber, of Dedham, MA. They remained together until
Richard’s passing in 2019. They made their homes in Needham, Wellesley Hills, Holliston, and
most recently Cranston, Rhode Island. Donna was the devoted mother of Scott (wife Kelly),
Theodore (wife Stefani) and Lynda Bonneau, as well as foster mother to Ana Santana-Pena.
The greatest joy of Donna’s life was her relationship with her grandchildren, Devin and Brighid
Weber, Abigail Weber, and Grayson and Emery Bonneau. She is survived by her brother John
Gautschi, her sister Lynne Dundas, and her step-sister Barbi Chihowski. Donna is also survived
by many nieces and nephews.
Donna and Richard co-created a scholarship fund for students at the Met School in Rhode
Island. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Helen L. LeGendre/Weber Family
Scholarship Fund c/o Rhode Island Foundation (rifoundation.org).
Visiting hours will be held at the Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home at 1895 Broad St at Park Ave., in
Cranston, on Thursday, January 30th from 4-7. There will be a service on Friday, the 31st, at
10:00 in the same location. Burial of her ashes will be at Pawtuxet Memorial Cemetery,
Warwick, RI, followed by a reception at Revolution American Bistro, located at 2190 Broad St., Cranston.
