Donna J. Haggerty

Donna Jean (Murray) Haggerty, 77, of Edgewood passed away peacefully into the welcoming arms of her late husband  Earl and late daughter Kimberly on Tuesday, August 27th.  Donna was surrounded by her loving family. Donna was the wife of the late Earl “Sonny” Haggerty. 

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late William James Murray and Dorothy Janet (Massey) Murray. 

Donna leaves behind her children Stephanie Peso of Warwick and Kristen Haggerty (Merlin) of Edgewood.  She was the mother of the late Kimberly Peso. She leaves her sisters Suzanne Hurley (Kevin) of North Providence and Kathleen Duchesneau (David) of Warwick, and brother William J. Murray Jr. of North Providence, three grandchildren: Alyssa-Lynn Brown of Brooklyn, NY, Zachary Peso of Cranston and Danielle Safford of Scituate, and two great-grandchildren Sage Winters and Ruby Safford, as well as several nieces and nephews.  

Donna loved spending time with her family, friends and pets. She spent many days at the ocean with her family, and after the beach barbecues at her sister’s summer home in Narragansett. Donna loved to read; sometimes reading several books at the same time. She enjoyed playing poker and other card games with her husband Earl and friends. She loved classic rock music and enjoyed going to concerts. She loved going to Foxwoods and playing slot machines. Donna especially loved spending time with her daughters. She very much enjoyed going shopping and out to dinner with them. Donna will be forever loved and missed by all who knew her. 

Donna was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School in Providence. She was employed at the Providence Journal Company for over 20 years in the Circulation Department. 

She was a lover of all animals and was very generous with her donations to the Providence Animal Rescue League, SPCA and many more. 

The funeral will be on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 9:00 am from Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home, 1895 Broad St at Park Ave, Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church, 1 St. Paul Place, Cranston. Burial at RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, RI. 

Visitation Tuesday morning from 8:30-9:30 AM
