BARBARA L. POTENZA Obituary

    Barbara L. Potenza (Berg), 88, of Cranston, passed away March 14, 2018, at RI Hospital, following a brief illness. She was born in Modesto, CA to the late Lawrence and Margaret Bickerstaff Berg and moved to Rhode Island in 1950.  Barbara worked at Peoples Bank for several years, followed by a career at Blue Cross-Blue Shield, from which she retired. 

   She was pre-deceased by her husband of 59 years, Thomas J. Potenza Jr., her sister Pat Berg, her brothers Carl, Ben Berg and Lester Silva.

   She is survived by her sons Steven Potenza and his wife Betty, James Potenza, Daniel Potenza and his wife Laura and her daughter Lenore and her husband David Brown.  She is also survived by her brother Kenneth Berg, brother-in-law Albert Potenza and her sister-in-law Barbara Silva.  Additionally, she had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins, all whom brought her great pride and joy.

   Barbara enjoyed travel, cooking and spending time with her growing family.

   Funeral Saturday at 9:00 A.M. from the Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home, 1895 Broad St. at Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. at St. Paul’s Church, 1 St. Paul Pl., Cranston.

   Calling Hours will be held Friday evening 4:00-8:00 P.M.

   Burial will be held at Rhode Island Veteran’s Cemetery in Exeter, R.I. In lieu of flowers donations, may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
