Arthur McShane Obituary

Arthur William McShane, 69, of Rhode Island, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of February 9, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born and raised in Rhode Island, Arthur will be best remembered for his sense of humor—always quick to crack a joke, even perhaps when not appropriate. He loved spending time with friends, playing cards, and sharing laughter over good times.

He enjoyed working with his hands and owned a hardwood flooring company for many years. He also took on various carpentry and home projects and was always happy to offer advice, knowing exactly the right tool—or the right guy—for the job.

Arthur was a passionate football and baseball fan, with a particular love—and hate—for the Red Sox. He had an uncanny ability to know exactly what any Red Sox manager should have done, usually just minutes after the game ended.

He was predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Muriel (Johnston) McShane. He is survived by his two children, Ryan and Angela; his beloved grandchildren, Ruby and Lucy; and his four sisters, Fran Cartwright, Mimi Logee, Linda Burley Brais, and Susan Byington. He also shared many cherished years with his loving partner, Pamela Tonsberg and her family, who brought him great joy. Arthur will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 15, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home, located at 1895 Broad St, Cranston, RI 02905. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and share memories.
