Agostino Velleco, Jr., 84, of Cranston affectionately known to many as “Gus” passed away peacefully January 1, 2016 at Greenwood House in Warwick. He was the loving husband of Pauline (Thuotte) Velleco. Born in Cranston he was the son of the late Agostino and Elvira (Massaro) Velleco.
Gus owned and operated Dexter Coal & Oil for many years until he retired in 1999. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Besides his wife he leaves two sons; Gus Velleco and his wife, Deborah of Florida and David Velleco and his wife, Christine of Coventry; a daughter Suzanne Hill and her husband, Warren of Scituate; two step-daughters; Valerie Giguere and her husband, Rene of West Warwick and Kathy Ray of Hope; a sister Rosa Martira of Cranston; ten grandchildren and six great children. He was the brother of the late Antonetta Roperti.
