Ramona Cecilia Mejia, 77, of Providence passed away peacefully on July 2, 2018 at her home surrounded by herloving family that meant so much to her. She was the devoted wife of the late Nazario Mejia for 50 years and proud mother of Cesar E. Mejia of North Kingstown and Claribel E. Mejia of Providence.
Born on November 22, 1940 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, she came to the United States in 1965. She was the daughter of the late Romulo and Juana (Cruz) Munoz. She was also sister to Providenca Munoz of Providence, Rhode Island and Juana Monegro of Orlando, Florida. She leaves four grandchildren: Geraldine, Cesar, Lorenzo, Alonzo Mejia, and a granddaughter on the way.
Ramona enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and touched the lives of those around her. She was also heavily involved in her St. Michael’s church community. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to the service. A mass will be held on Friday at 10am at St. Michael’s Church, 239 Oxford Street, Providence, RI 02905. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4-7 pm in The Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home, 1895 Broad Street, Cranston, RI 02905. Burial will be at the North Burial Ground in Providence, RI.
