ROBERT EDWARD KACHANIS, SR.May 28, 1938 ~ July 30, 2017 (age 79)
Robert Edward Kachanis, Sr., 79, of Beverly Hill, FL and formerly of Pawtucket passed away Sunday Morning July 30th, at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence, with his loving daughter Cathy by his side. “Bob” was the devoted Husband of Patricia M. (Lemieux) Kachanis. Born in Providence, RI in 1938 he was the son of the late Peter & Marion (Dowgiala) Kachanis. Bob served his Country with dignity and honor in the United States Army and was involved in the Berlin Brigade.
Mr. Kachanis had a Bachelor's degree from Rogers Williams University. He worked for the City of Pawtucket for 17 years as the Superintendent of the Pawtucket Incinerator which he opened in June of 1965 and closed in August of 1982. He was an incredibly talented woodworker who could duplicate anything he saw. He was a parishioner and choir member of Our Lady of Grace Church in Beverly Hills, FL for the past 25 years, donating his time by cantering and crafting an altar and other pieces. He was also a Parishioner and choir member St. Joseph's Church in Woonsocket.
Besides his loving wife of 57 years he is survived by a son Robert Edward Kachanis , Jr. of North Smithfield; a daughter Catherine Boucher of Cumberland; a brother John Kachanis of North Scituate; a sister Christine Smith of Coventry; five grandchildren Alex and Ben Boucher, Molly and Jordyn Kachanis and Shannon Anderson; two great grandchildren Nicoli and Aiden Anderson. He was the brother of the late Peter Kachanis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday August 5th at 10am in St. Joseph Church 1200 Mendon Road Woonsocket , RI 02895. Burial will be private. Calling hours will respectfully be omitted. Arrangements are entrusted to the Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home. Please visit www.sheridanfh.com for additional information.
