ROBERT FRANCIS WALL, 89, of Jupiter, Florida, and Cranston, passed away peacefully on October 12 with Karen Calkins, his loving partner of 35 years, by his side.
One of nine children born to Leo and Grace (Mowry) in Valley Falls, Rhode Island, Bob is survived by sisters Joan Carello of Warwick and Judy Brousseau of Peru, Indiana. He was preceded in death by brothers Leo, George, William, and Edward and sisters Eileen LaRose and Maureen LaMountain.
After graduating from St. Raphael Academy, Bob proudly served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged at the rank of Petty Officer First Class in 1955. He received his B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Rhode Island in 1961 and earned his M.A.T. from Rhode Island College in 1968. He began teaching Mathematics at Roger Williams College in 1961 and continued his career teaching at Bryant College until he retired in 1992.
Bob was also an Administrative Assistant to the Rhode Island Senate Majority Leader, John P. Hawkins, and in 1976 became the Rhode Island State Senate Reading Clerk, serving under seven Senate Majority Leaders until his retirement in 1997.
While in Rhode Island, Bob could be found either working or playing golf at East Greenwich Golf Course and in Jupiter, as a “Bandit” at Jupiter Dunes Golf Course where he had 13 “holes in one.” Bob was devout in his faith, proud of his service to his country, and a friend to many.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (James) Prevett of Hull, MA; Retired RISP Major Robert S. Wall of Cranston; and Daniel J. Wall of Cumberland. He was blessed to have four grandchildren: Lindsay Neagle (Doug) of Plantation, Florida; Chelsea Grossman of Toronto, Canada; Barrett (Lindsey Russell) Wall of Alaska; and USAF Captain Bridgett Wall of Germany. He was a proud great-grandfather of Gracen Mae Neagle.
Calling hours will be held at Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home, 1895 Broad Street, Cranston, RI 02905, on Thursday, October 21, 2021, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated at St. Paul Church, One St. Paul Place, Cranston on Friday, October 22, 2021, at 10:00 a.m.
Burial at Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery will be private.
