Richard Rebola, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 30, 2023 at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center after a long illness. Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, he graduated from New Bedford Vocational School and enlisted in the Marine Corp. He rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant during the Korean War and received a purple heart and other medal accommodations during his tour. He was a tool and die maker by trade and was employed as a Plant Manager for several manufacturing companies such as Sikorsky Aircraft, Continental Screw Company, Pawtucket Manufacturing, Pawtucket Screw Company, Gripnail Corporation, Colibri Group, and Tech Steele Company. Later in his career he worked for Northeast Placement and in his mid 70’s he was a driver for Herb Chambers Honda, where he loved to socialize with staff and customers. Richard loved to keep busy and socialize. His love of his family and deep Portuguese heritage was evident in all he did. He often bragged about his age, boasting that his birthday was on February 2, “a long time ago.” He loved music and dancing, taking over and moving swiftly across the dance floor. He was passionate about visiting Provincetown where he spent summers as a child and telling old childhood stories about fishing and growing up in New Bedford. He was also generous in treating himself to a wide spaced two finger Dewars (neat). He is survived by his wife Bernadette Rebola of Pawtucket, his son Michael Rebola (Karen) of East Providence, his daughter Sharon Pyne(Thomas) of North Kingstown, his step-daughters Laura Honea and Lisa Tenreiro (Alan) all of Pawtucket, 9 grandchildren Brittany and Michael R. Rebola, Lindsey & Connor Pyne, Michael & Julia Tenreiro, Abigail, Ellis & Aiden Honea and one great grandchild Emma Rose Young. He was predeceased by his parents Mary (Magellen) and John Rebola, and his sister Elsie Ford. Calling hours will be on Thursday February 2, 2023 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home, 1895 Broad Street, Cranston, RI.A funeral service will be held Friday, February 3, 2023 at 11:00am with burial service with military honors to follow at Pawtuxet Memorial Park , 100 Harrison Ave, Warwick, RI.
