Eileen M. (Bannon) Gainor, 95, peacefully went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on September 10, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard J. Gainor. She was the daughter of the late Norman and Mary (Lynch) Bannon. She grew up in the Washington Park section of Providence and raised her family in Warwick.
Eileen was the devoted mother of Edward of Amherst, NH, Thomas (Nery) of Plantation, FL, Kathleen of Conway, NH and Providence, RI, and Richard (Susan) of Cranston; She was the loving grandmother of Rachel, Laura, Kristen, Joseph, and great-grandmother to Luna.
Eileen worked at Amica Insurance until leaving to raise her children. When her children were older, she then worked for Alan Shawn Feinstein within the Feinstein Foundation. She found her greatest joy in the moments she shared with family and devoted friends. She related to life with a warm smile and a quick joke. She made everyone feel valued.
Eileen was able to live at home and travel, until recently, because her daughter orchestrated a shared living approach to make it possible. Special thank you to those who lovingly participated: Ms. Linda Woodward (who referred to Eileen as "Mum"), Mr. Nahzeer Brooks-Jones, Mr. Justin Brown,
Mr. Ronald Corsi, Mr. Kevin Erazo, Mr. Arnold Lundy, Mr. Carlos Marciel, and Mr. and Mrs. Opadiran and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gilbert. Together, all were mutually enriched by giving and receiving: love, presence, prayers, jokes, hugs, music, and a continued sense of community, purpose, and freedom. Eileen cherished her trips to New Hampshire, where she found delight in fresh food, crisp air, and the beauty of nature.
Thank you to all her loyal, loving friends who brought her great joy especially, but not limited to: Mrs. Joyce Cavanaugh, Dr. Pat (Feinstein), Mrs. Sandra Johnson, Dr. Mohammed Abiri, Fran Phillips, and Mr. Ed Walton.
Thank you to all the doctors, nurses, certified nursing assistants, and all who did their best to give their best. Thank you for your love.
