Earl Francis Cronan, 80, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at HopeHealth Hospice Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Mary Cronan for 49 years. Born in Providence, son of the late Earl F. and Hazel (Williams) Cronan. He was the father of Kerri Dowdell and her husband Rod, Earl Cronan, and his wife Erica, Maryellen Simas, and her husband Dan, Patrick Cronan, and his husband, John. Brother of Ronald Cronan, Patricia Violette, and the late Marcia Kelley. Affectionately known as Pop-Pop to Delaney, Andrew, Emma, Megan, Nathan, Madison, Jordan, Addison, Savannah, Owen, and Travis.
He lived in Edgewood for 50 years, working for Almacs for 40 years as a meat manager. He was a hockey coach with Edgewood Youth Hockey, and he enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He was a life member of the Pawtuxet Athletic Club and enjoyed playing cards in various leagues and cutting the corned beef on St. Patrick’s Day. He played golf in numerous leagues and was still in search of his first hole in one. Above all, his most favorite time was playing High Low Jack with his wife, children, and grandchildren, coaching them on how to put in a great 4-bid.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, March 31st at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew Church, 15 Frances Ave., Cranston, R.I. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
