Richard P. Weber Obituary

Richard P. Weber of Cranston, Rhode Island, died on  August 19th after a short illness with his family at his side.  Richard was born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 2, 1946.  Richard is survived by his mother Eleanor (LeGendre) Weber of Norwood, Massachusetts, and was predeceased by his father, Harold Quentin Weber.

Richard graduated from Dedham High School in 1964.  He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Tufts University prior to joining the U.S. Army in 1968, where he attained the rank of lst Lieutenant.   Richard continued his education at the University of Florida Gainsville attaining his Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, and an MBA at Babson College.  Richard had a long career as a private consultant in geotechnical engineering.  Most recently, Richard was an Adjunct Professor of Mathematics at Johnson and Wales University. For many years on Patriots’ Day, Richard’s family and friends enjoyed watching Richard participate as a minuteman in the annual reenactment of the Battles of Lexington and Concord.

In 1971, Richard married his loving wife Donna (Splittgerber) to whom he was married for almost 48 years.  They made their home in Needham, Wellesley Hills, Holliston, and most recently Cranston, Rhode Island.  Richard was the devoted father of Scott (wife Kelly), Theodore (wife Stefani) and Lynda Bonneau (husband Nathan), as well as foster father to Ana Santana-Pena.   He was the grandfather of Devin and Brighid Weber, Abigail Weber, and Grayson and Emery Bonneau.  He is survived by his brothers Philip of Dedham, MA and William of Bradenton, FL.  Richard is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Richard spent many years as a consultant and teacher at the Met School East Bay Campus in Newport, Rhode Island.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Helen L. LeGendre/Weber Family Scholarship Fund c/o Rhode Island Foundation (rifoundation.org).

Visiting hours will be held at the Jones, Walton, Sheridan Funeral Home at 1895 Broad St in Cranston, on Friday, August 23rd from 4-7.  There will be a service on Saturday, the 24th, at 10:00 in the same location. Burial at Pawtuxet Memorial Cemetery, Warwick, RI, followed by a reception at the Shriners' Imperial Room, located at One Rhodes Place, Cranston, RI
