MURPHY, William T., 90, of South Attleboro, passed away on Sunday, April 12, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife Olinda, his three children, Renee Buisson and her partner David Betsch, James Murphy and Susan Fazio and her husband George, as well as his stepdaughters Linda McGovern and her husband David, and Sandra Trabucco and her husband Steven, and 11 grandchildren.
Born in Providence he was the son of the late Martin and Ellen (Sugrue) Murphy. Bill enlisted in the Marine Corps during World War II and was stationed in the Pacific.
He retired from Narragansett Electric as a Watch Engineer, or as he liked to say, "He shoveled Coal." He was the co-owner of the First Thirty Bar in Foxpoint for many years.
His stories, his wisdom and his joy for life will be much missed.
Funeral Friday at 9:45am from the Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home, 1895 Broad St., at Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00am in St. Joseph Church, 92 Hope St., Providence. Interment with Military Honors in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
Calling hours Thursday from 4:00pm - 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
