WILLIAM J. SWEENEY

   William J. Sweeney, 82, of Warwick, passed away August 17, 2015 at the Charlesgate Nursing Home. He was the husband of Jeannette (LaFrance) Sweeney.

   Born in Providence, a son of the late William E. and Anna (McGowan) Sweeney. William was a Korean War veteran serving with the U.S. Army. He worked as a Juvenile Correctional Officer for the State of R.I. for over 30 years.

   He was the father of William E., Joseph L., Michael J., Carolyn A. Sweeney, Joanne M. Wittman and the late Daniel G. Sweeney, step-father of Judith E. Jolie, Everett A., James P. and Colleen Bellew, grandfather of 8 and great grandfather of 3.

   Funeral Friday at 9:30 AM from the Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home, 1895 Broad St. at Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 A.M. at St. Francis Church, 596 Jefferson Blvd., Warwick, R.I. Burial will be held with military honors at RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, RI
