GERALD WILLIAM O'NEIL

Gerald W. “Jerry” O’Neil, 85, of Edgewood passed away peacefully late Tuesday at the Elmhurst Extended Care in Providence.  He was the devoted husband of Phyllis (Allard) O’Neil of Edgewood.  Born in Weymouth, MA he was the son of the late Timothy & Mary (Brown) O’Neil. He graduated from LaSalle Academy in 1950. Mr. O’Neil served his Country with honor and dignity in the Airforce during the Korean War.

Jerry loved his community and played an intricate part and co-founder of both the Edgewood Eagles Football League and Edgewood Girls’ Softball League.  He also coached for several years.  Mr. O’Neil was a lineman for the phone company for over 40 years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Besides his loving wife he is survived by a son Steven W. O’Neil of Phoenix, AZ; a daughter Kathleen A. O’Neil of Cranston; four grandchildren Shannon M. O’Neil, Esq. of Boston, Kaley J. and Molly A. O’Neil both of Cranston and Cody O’Neil of Phoenix, AZ; and one great-grandchild Cayden C. Kroeung of Cranston.

Funeral Monday at 9 A.M. from the Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home 1895 Broad Street Cranston, RI 02905 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in St. Paul Church, One St. Paul Pl., Cranston, RI.  Burial with Military Honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, RI.
