EUGENE J. MATUSZEK

Eugene J. Matuszek, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 9, 2016.  Born in Central Falls, RI, he was a  son of the late Katarzyna (Kuras) and Antoni S. Matuszek. He was the husband of the late Stella A. "Jerry" (Gerus) Matuszek. He is also predeceased by his only child and daughter, Linda Jean (Matuszek) Vicario.

Gene was the stepson of the late Elizabeth (Moszkowicz) Matuszek and brother of the late Teddy, Mary, Albina, Adam, Francis, Stanley, Irene and Anthony Matuszek, Wanda Tobiasz, Jane Tobiasz and Helen Penepacker. He leaves a sister-in-law, Carol Matuszek and several nieces and nephews.

Gene graduated from Central Falls High School.  He served in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1946 during World War II and received an Honorable Discharge. Upon his separation from military service, he enrolled in Bryant College under the GI Bill. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting in 1948.  The inscription under his photo in his college yearbook  reads:  "No honest man ever repented of his honesty".

Gene was employed as a comptroller/accountant for many years for the Fram/Dayco Corporation and Burton Industries. 

Calling hours are respectfully omitted.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Raymond's Church , 1240 No. Main St., Providence, RI on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 10 a.m. with full military honors.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Raymond's Food Pantry, 2 Matilda St., Providence, RI 02904.
