DR. THOMAS B. COFFEY

June 19, 1916 ~ November 27, 2014 (age 98) 98 Years Old

COFFEY, DR. THOMAS B. (Doc), 98, of Edgewood died at home on Monday, October 27, 2014. He was the loving husband of Ree (Burns) Coffey. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late James J. Coffey and Sarah Ann (Slavin) Coffey. He was the brother of the late Margaret A. Oates, the late James H. Coffey, the late Mary F. Hay, the late Col. Francis J. Coffey and the late Chief George J. Coffey. 

Dr. Coffey was a practicing Doctor of Dental Surgery for over sixty-six years. He received his primary and secondary education from Saint Theresa’s, Blessed Sacrament and LaSalle Academy in Providence. He received his post secondary education from Providence College and The Georgetown University Dental School. During World War II, he enlisted in the Army as a Lieutenant and was honorably discharged, at the end of the War, with the rank of Major. A soft-spoken man with a wonderful sense of humor, he was truly loved by everyone his life had touched. He was married to his loving wife Ree for sixty-one years. He was the father of the late James (Jimmy) Coffey. He leaves his children, Thomas B. Coffey, Esq. and his wife Lisa, Gerald T. Coffey, John J. Coffey, Joseph M. Coffey and his wife Kym, Dr. Mary S. Coffey and her husband David King, and Robert P. Coffey. He was the Grandfather of Greg, Tim, Chris, Ellie, Stephanie and Ilana Coffey, along with Ryan, Connor, Mariah and Michael King. He also leaves his sisters-in-law Sophie and Betty Coffey, his many cousins, nieces and nephews, their children and their grandchildren along with his patients and many wonderful family friends. He will be deeply missed by everyone his life has touched. 

His funeral will be held on Monday, November 3, 2014 at 9:00 AM from the Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home, 1895 Broad Street at Park Ave., Cranston, R.I. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Paul Church in Edgewood., One St. Paul Pl., Cranston, RI at 10AM. Burial will be held at St. Ann Cemetery. Calling Hours are on Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M.
