Steven D. Gaunt a lifelong resident of Johnston affectionately known to many as Stevatz, Gaunt or 28 passed away unexpectedly in his home on Sunday November 19, 2017. Born in Providence he was the son of Douglas & Pamela (Blanding) Gaunt. Steve worked for Wesco Oil for over 20 years as a Truck Driver.  Mr. Gaunt coached Johnston Youth Football for eight years.  He loved his family and friends with a passion, and never said the word NO when it came to either.  He was always there to lend a hand no matter what.   Mr. Gaunt was inducted into the Johnston High School Hall Of Fame in October of this year.  He was a member of the 1991 Johnston High School undefeated State Championship Football Team.  Steve never did anything half speed it was all or nothing. We have a millennial word to describe him its “BEAST MODE” He was a fierce competitor and a force to be reckoned with on any field.  He was also part of a great tradition called MUDBOWL it takes place in North Conway New Hampshire every September. He was also inducted into the Mudbowl Hall of Fame in 2013.  Steve also played on several flag football and softball teams: Cumberland Muckaneers, Undertakers, Raw Dawgs and Rhode Iceland Angels.  He had a dream which fell short, it was to live in the Southern Most part of the east coast called Key West, FL.  He took several family trips to this little Island of sunshine and happiness creating memories that will carry on thru Kim, little Steven a.k.a. Knucklehead and Haley a.k.a Daddy’s little Girl.  Besides his parents he is survived by the beloved mother of his children  Kimberly Trazi-Gaunt; His name sake Steven D, Gaunt, Jr.; his daughter Haley J. Gaunt all of Johnston; brother Robert J. Gaunt and his girlfriend Katie Hagen both of Greenville;  maternal grandfather John Blanding of Sebastian, FL; paternal grandmother Nellie Frances Gaunt; his favorite uncle and friend Robert Blanding of Sebastian, FL.
